When UV-C light penetrates the microorganism, the DNA bonds are broken. This changes the cell's hereditary properties, preventing the microorganism from multiplying. Simply put, microorganisms are killed.
A microorganism is too small to be seen by the naked eye. This includes all single-celled organisms such as bacteria, fungi and viruses.
A UV-C device contains a UV-C lamp. This lamp emits Ultra violet light. When algae are exposed to this light, they will die off immediately. So this prevents, or fixes the problem of a green pond. When the water flows past the UV light, all organisms are killed. Thus, no distinction is made between good and bad organisms.
